AHA & BHA: Bikini Line Heroes
Share
Nothing can ruin a fresh shave or wax faster than ingrown hairs or bumps on your bikini line. With summer fast approaching, we’re bringing you everything you need to know about the two ingredients that will forever change the way you think about hair removal: AHA and BHA.
First Things First: Why Exfoliate?
Your skin is amazing - it naturally sloughs off dead skin cells each day. But before you shave, wax, sugar or epilate, it’s important to do some extra exfoliation to keep ingrowns, razor bumps and irritation from wreaking havoc. Starting with a “clean slate” so to speak will make for smoother hair removal and leave you with less ouch after the fact.
What is AHA?
AHAs (Alpha Hydroxy Acids, like glycolic acid) are chemical exfoliants that help sweep away dead skin cells. They work at the surface level to loosen the top layer of skin.
Added bonus: these types of acids hydrate as they exfoliate, for even smoother skin.
What is BHA?
BHA (Beta Hydroxy Acid) is also a chemical exfoliant. But because it’s oil soluble, it penetrates deeper into the skin to break up and remove oil and dead skin below the surface.
Added bonus: BHA has natural skin-soothing properties, so it can help calm sensitive skin that’s prone to redness.
Our Best-Selling Bikini Line Solution
Buff & Brighten Exfoliating Pads combine Glycolic Acid (AHA) and Willow Bark Extract (BHA) to give razor bumps, ingrown hair and irritation a 1-2 punch. It’s the easiest way to prevent razor bumps, ingrown hair and irritation on your bikini line, underarms, legs, or anywhere else you shave or wax! Plus, it helps brighten the appearance of the dark marks and shadows associated with repeated hair removal - post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation.
How to Use Buff & Brighten
Before You Shave:
Starting with dry skin, simply swipe a Buff & Brighten pad over the area you want to shave. Repeat up to 3x a week for the smoothest shave possible.
Before You Wax:
The night before you wax, use Buff & Brighten to prep the skin. Repeat after you wax to help soothe skin and prevent ingrown hair.
After 3-4 weeks, you should start to see dark marks fade. Remember that irritation can make hyperpigmentation worse, so always use a light touch!
Whatever method of hair removal you choose, and however much hair you want to take off, adding AHA and BHA to your routine will make all the difference. Getting rid of pesky bumps on your bikini line has never been sweeter!
